Universitatea Babes-Bolyai Cluj-Napoca (UBB) 


Babes- Bolyai University is a public institution of higher education, a multicultural and complex university, whose mission is to promote and sustain within the local, regional, national and international community the development of specific cultural components. In terms of the research activity BBU is situated among the top positions in the national rankings. The scientific research activity performed in the BBU research units covers three fundamental components: basic and applied research; development (generating innovative prototype products and services); innovation (implementation in the socio-economic environment of innovative services and products). The Babes-Bolyai University comprises 21 faculties.

The Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences assures higher education programs, postgraduate programs, distance learning programs and in- service training programs in Psychology, Educational Sciences and Special Education for students, specialists and teachers of different subjects.

The Special Education Department represents a specialization with tradition within Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, an interdisciplinary field that prepares specialists in special education, in the education, habilitation and rehabilitation of people with disabilities. In the structure of Special Education Department are three research labs: Interdisciplinary Applied Behavioral Research Lab; Language and Communication Research Mini-Laboratory; Minilab of special education research on learning disabilities. The Department of Special Education has also an action-research center: Center for Access Technologies for Visually Impaired Individuals, whose mission addresses the needs of students with visual impairment in accessing information.

The Special Education Department at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca offers two programs for continuous professional development. One program is focused on “Continuous Professional development in the field of inclusive and special education” and the other program is focused on “Special Education interventions for children with disabilities and their families”.
