Tribhuvan University has been established with a view to bringing about change through. It is committed to impart higher education to the students. It is dedicated to create knowledge in various fields and undertake research activities. It aims to provide quality education to students.
Despite limited resources it is managing to operate with difficulty. In the context of competitive educational systems at home and abroad this university is also struggling hard to manage the recent means of education such as electronic devices in the classroom as well as library. In near future it aims to digitalize the administrative and financial system in order to make the university entirely paperless and quick functioning.
The executive officials and the academicians have been engaged in administration, teaching, and research activities. It has changed the annual system into semester system in post graduate level and soon it is going to introduce semester system in undergraduate level. It aims to improve pedagogy through capacity building projects through collaboration with other universities across the world.. With this change this university expects to raise its standard to the high world ranking position by improving the quality of education with its main objective of making it the centre of academic excellence.
Under the central administration there are five institutes, four faculties, and four research centres working in the fields of teaching and research. Most of the academic programmes in natural sciences, social sciences, and business studies/management that include post-graduate and PhD studies are operated in the central campus of the University at Kirtipur. Likewise, all the four research centres are located at Kirtipur while the Institute of Medicine and Engineering, and the Institute of Forestry are located in the valley and the Institute of Agriculture is outside the valley. At present there are 60 constituent campuses and 1085 affiliated colleges under this university across the country catering the needs of more than 360000 students in different fields of study. Despite the huge number of students and faculties as well as administrative personnel, TU is struggling hard to achieve the set goals.
